Program Honoring "Lost 74" is Friday

Niobrara will honor the "Lost 74," which includes the three Sage brothers, Gary, Greg and Kelly, with a special ceremony on Friday, June 3 at 10 a.m. at the Sage Brothers' Memorial, along Highway 12 at Niobrara. This will be one of six ceremonies held that day. Other ceremonies will be held at Long Beach, Calif., Gurnee, Ill., Herndon, Va., Independence, Mo., and Ulverstone, Tasmania, Australia. The Master of Ceremonies at the program in Niobrara will be Terry Vejr, of Bonita Springs, Fla., one of the Evans' 204 survivors of the U.S.S. Frank E. Evans and the Australian aircraft carrier Melbourne collision on June 2, 1969.  The Evans Association is requesting that people support these events, noting that the Master of Ceremonies for each event has gone the extra mile to make these ceremonies meaningful occasions.
