Bolstered by championship performances from several athletes, the Lady Warriors emerged triumphant at the C4 District Track Meet in Hartington on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
Crofton’s lady tracksters scored 103 points to the District Runner-Up Cedar Catholic’s 92; avenging a second place finish to the Lady Trojans at last year’s district meet.

A key championship performance came from junior Jordyn Arens who qualified for the state track meet in four events: the 800m run, 1600m run, 3200m run, and 4x800m relay comprised of junior Kaylee Mauch, sophomore Rylie Arens, and freshman Sophia Wortmann (alernate Elizabeth Wortmann). J. Arens’s 800m race came down to a nail-biting finish as she lunged across the finish line just .22 seconds ahead of Wakefield’s Jordan Metzler. R. Arens also competed in the 800m run and scored some points for the team, finishing in fifth place.

Junior Ellie Tramp also contributed major points to the Lady Warriors’ win with championship finishes in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles races.  Tramp is also a part of the 4x400m relay comprised of juniors Mauch and E. Wortmann and sophomore R. Arens (alternate Cassie Allen).

The relay team logged a season best time of 4:20.25, which was good enough to snag a wildcard spot for the state meet despite their third place finish at a very competitive district meet.

The freshmen duo of Addyson Ostermeyer and Jacee Anthony went first and second respectively in pole vault, qualifying them both for their first high school State track meet.  Senior Blair Jordan earned a sixth place medal in pole vault, as well.  Junior Caitlin Guenther competed in triple jump and acheived a mark of 33-05.75, which landed her in first place and headed to Omaha.

Two members of the Crofton Boys Track and Field team also qualified for the state meet.  Senior Trevor Sejnoha won the long jump with a jump of 20-05, and junior Jace Foxhoven came in second in the triple jump with a leap of 40-10.50.  Freshman Jace Panning narrowly missed qualifying for the state meet in long jump, as well, with a third place finish and a mark of 19-07.
The Nebraska State Track and Field Championships for classes C and D will be held at Omaha Burke Stadium on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20. Tickets for the state track meet must be purchased online at the website Go Fan.
