Rain started to fall in the fourth quarter of the Homecoming game last week.

The Crofton Warriors moved to 5-0 after defeating the Laurel Concord Coleridge Bears on Friday, September 23, for Homecoming. The Warriors are now tied for fourth in Class D1 with Sandy Creek after stomping the Bears 72-14.

Early in the first quarter the Warriors had success running the ball. With 10:30 left on the clock, sophomore Jace Panning was able to find the end zone and scored a touchdown, with senior Seth Pinkelman receiving a pass from senior Will Steffen for the 2-point conversion. The Bears responded well with Carter Kvols receiving a pass from Dylan Taylor for a touchdown with 8:47 on the clock. The Warriors would score one more touchdown in the first quarter by Panning.
The Warriors had a huge second quarter scoring four touchdowns. Junior Wyatt Tramp and Panning were responsible for two touchdowns each. Only two of the 2-point conversions were successful making the score at the end of the half 42-8.

The Warriors came off strong after halftime scoring two more touchdowns both by senior Robbie Fisher. Fisher was also responsible for completing both 2-point conversions making the score 58-8 at the end of the third quarter. 

With the game well in hand, the Warriors began to send in the subs during the fourth quarter. Freshman Tyson Jackson scored a touchdown and the 2-point conversion failed. LCC answered back with a touchdown of their own by Eli Haisch. For the Warriors final touchdown of the game, Jackson ran 66 yards for a touchdown and scored the 2-point conversion, making the final score 72-14. 

The Warriors racked up a total of 463 yards of offense. Panning was Crofton’s leading rusher with 279 rushing yards. The Warrior defense held the Bears to a total of only 69 rushing yards. Leading tacklers for Crofton were Fisher and junior Braxston Foxhoven each with six tackles. 

Tramp was named the defensive player of the game. His 2 interceptions, one return for a touchdown, helped hold the Bears to 14 points. Senior Jace Foxhoven was named the offensive player of the game. Coach Allen praised Foxhoven for his great blocking and the fact that he never takes any breaks. 

The Warriors will take on the Homer Knights September 29, in Homer at 7:00 p.m.
