In recent years, podcasts have become a popular and engaging medium for sharing information and ideas.

Few schools have given this a shot, creating their own podcasts to connect students, parents, and the whole community. These school podcasts can be treasure troves of valuable information that cover a wide range of topics and serve many purposes.

The Crofton Warrior Podcast is the Crofton High School's podcast, which was created by Jack Schieffer and Quinn Mosher as a journalism project. “The idea was presented to me by Ms. Pack and Mrs. Baker,” said Schieffer. “They were both super excited to find another medium to get news out to our community and beyond.”

“Ms. Pack was adamant to make me the host, which worked out well because I love new fun challenges and podcasts alike,” continued Schieffer. “Eventually I coaxed Quinn into it and boom! We had a podcast.”

The process of starting a podcast was “interesting uncharted territory“ according to Schieffer. “After Ms. Pack graciously got us the equipment, I had to figure out how to get it out on all the streaming services like Apple and Spotify.” The podcast is currently on seven streaming platforms including Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

They have interviewed teachers and students about a multitude of topics including the recent Homecoming changes, the lives of teachers, and Crofton’s One Act program. Quinn and Jack make the podcast “to educate the students and community while also giving them a little giggle,” according to Mosher.

The plans for the podcast are being created as they go. Quinn and Jack record at least two times a week interviewing teachers and students about a wide array of subjects.

School podcasts are a versatile and engaging way to convey information to school and community members. They offer a diverse range of content, from educational insights to community building. Whether you’re a student, a parent, or an educator, school podcasts are a valuable resource to stay connected and informed.
