Mayson Ostermeyer, Crofton alum (class of 2022) and multi-time All-American for Concordia University in Track and Field, raised $1,361 for the Crofton track and field programs through his “Foot To Dollar” project.
Ostermeyer began the project two years ago, asking businesses to donate one dollar for every foot he vaults throughout his college indoor and outdoor seasons. This past year businesses included the Shop on 2nd, 402 Collision and Towing, NOHR Wortmann Engineering, Wiebelhaus Recreation, Main Street Treasures, Crofton Haymarket, and a gracious anonymous donor.
“Mayson has done a lot for our programs at Crofton,” said Head Crofton Track and Field Coach Mickey Doerr, “and we are grateful that he continues to be a great ambassador for the town and sport itself.” Money raised from Ostermeyer’s efforts have gone towards purchasing or renting poles for the high school vaulters, distance markers for the throwing events, team warm-up tops, and helping repair equipment the team already owns.
While Ostermeyer’s junior campaign at Concordia was hampered with injuries, he notched another All-American title to his belt finishing in 7th at Nationals during the indoor season before continuing on to be the GPAC Outdoor Champion and ultimately qualifying for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships where he finished in a tie for 14th.
Ostermeyer was rewarded for his stellar work in the classroom, being named to the NAIA Academic All-America First Team, his second Academic All-American honor.
