The University of Nebraska, partnered with Knox County Economic Development, have begun the acclaimed “Entrepreneurial Committees Activation Process” or ECAP in the Crofton community, and are looking for some survey responses.

One of the major first steps in the “community activation” ECAP process is to gauge the parts of the community that citizens feel are important to pursue into the future.

Those thoughts can include anything from the Senior Citizen Center to the Golf Course, pool and parks and ballfields and beyond.

The surveys will be collected online (via the nearby QR code) or in paper format that can be picked up and dropped off at People’s Grocery Store by January 30’s deadline.

The purpose of the program, according to the poster was “ECAP supports community growth and entrepreneurship by discovering Crofton’s unique assets and potential opportunities. The process includes a survey and community conversations to share survey results and identify community priorities.”

The survey is 11 pages, and includes questions rating parts of the community to identify directions to improve, identifying the community’s description of itself, strengths, reasons to relocate to Crofton, basic needs and reasons to be in Crofton, priorities and improvements thought necessary for the future, and potential community projects.

Including thoughts on the existing amenities and offerings in the community, some of the identified “potential community projects” included the new pool project, a sidewalk/walking path, a multipurpose room at the school, a new track or an updated community center (along with a blank for more suggestions.)

There is a section on the city’s economic development efforts, and a blank for suggestions for opportunities or new businesses that might impact the community.

There are a number of questions about demographics, and the “reason” folks live in Crofton, as well as the volunteering efforts or organizations that people are involved on and how they work.

According to the poster, there are four meetings planned in the future, following the survey analysis to help spur growth and efforts into the future.

Those meetings are: February 16, March 2, March 16 and March 30 – all at 6 p.m. in the Crofton City Auditorium.
