The Crofton Speech team powered through a tough storm at the Mid-State Conference Meet Saturday, February 28 in Battle Creek.

At this meet, the whole team competed at the Varsity level, and they faced some tough competition, but they powered through and came out the other side with 4 varsity medals.

As a group performance, the OID group consisting of seniors Katie Neuharth and Sophia Wortmann, junior Natalee Steffen, and sophomores Kaden Arens and Fred Dennis made it to the final rounds and ended the day in 6th place.

In the individual events, Neuharth made it to finals and placed 4th in Informative speaking, Wortmann gifted everyone a laugh with her Entertainment speech in the final rounds and ended in 4th place. And finally, sophomore Cecilia Wortmann delivered her POI speech and finished the day in 5th place.

The Warriors will next perform at their open house at Crofton High School on March 14, starting at 5 p.m. (subject to change depending on boy’s state basketball).

Their next competition will be the C1-3 District Meet on March 17, in Homer starting at 9 a.m.
