Following the federal enactment of H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” Nebraska is moving ahead of schedule to become the first state in the country to implement the law's new Medicaid work requirements.
With Nebraska’s enforcement set to begin May 1, 2026, the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) has launched a dedicated bilingual website to help residents navigate these changes and maintain their health care coverage.
The new platform, MedicaidNebraska.com, provides clear, simple guidance in both English and Spanish to ensure current enrollees and new applicants understand the new verification requirements.
“Nebraska hospitals and health systems care deeply about the people in their communities,” said Jeremy Nordquist, President & CEO of the Nebraska Hospital Association. “Our goal is to ensure every Nebraskan who qualifies for Medicaid has the tools and information they need to keep their coverage.”
The transition introduces new administrative requirements for thousands of Nebraskans. MedicaidNebraska.com was specifically designed to bridge the information gap, providing easy-to-understand breakdowns of H.R. 1 legislative changes to help enrollees navigate the new work and verification requirements, supporting continuous coverage to prevent eligible individuals from losing access to care.
“Medicaid is changing in Nebraska,” Nordquist added. “It’s important that enrollees take action now to understand what’s changing, who’s affected, and what they should do right now to remain covered.”
The NHA encourages all Medicaid recipients to visit MedicaidNebraska.com today to prepare for eligibility changes starting on May 1st.
