After hitting one out last Sunday, Seth Wiebelhaus kept his streak of home runs going Sunday night, May 31, when the Crofton Bluejays downed Irene 9-3 in a home South Central League battle.

Wiebelhaus drove in four runs on the night on three hits, which included a homer over the centerfield fence in the 8th inning.

But Wiebelhaus wasn't the only bat to get going for the Jays. James Kaiser had two RBIs and Andy Knapp, Jared Wiebelhaus and Zach Clark had RBIs of their own.

The Jays got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Justin Potts singled to right field. Austin Gobel followed up with another hit, and Potts scored on a ground out by Seth Wiebelhaus. Gobel then scored on a Kaiser single, and Jared Wiebelhaus singled to right to score Kaiser, giving the Jays a 3-0 lead.

The home team added two runs in the fifth inning, two in the seventh and two more in the eighth, including the Wiebelhaus homer, to grab the win.

Capp Bengston got the win on the mound for the Jays, pitching through eight innings, with Gobel coming in to clean up in the ninth.

The Jays gathered 17 hits on a night of big bats, and held the Cardinals to just four hits.
