Veteran Stories: Died While Serving in Philippine Islands Glenn E. Carr served as a Private with the 1st Infantry Regiment, 6th Infantry Division during World War II. Arens has photo published in poultry calendar contest The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is celebrating youth involved with agriculture by announcing the winners of NDA's Poultry Photo Contest. Nebraskans sign up for healthcare coverage; and can still apply Heritage Health Adult Medicaid Expansion (HHA) has successfully signed up 5,218 Nebraskans to date. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) continues to provide great customer service. Applications are currently processed in about seven days, which is over a month faster than required by federal law. Veteran Stories: U.S. Navy Seaman killed in accident Fred Plantenberg was born in Crofton in 1913. Plantenberg graduated from St. Rose School in 1928. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at Omaha in 1938 before World War II started. He began his training at the Great Lakes Naval training station, and eventually transferred to San Diego. Dather takes part in first ever Virtual FCCLA conference Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) held its first-ever Virtual National Leadership Conference since the organization was founded in 1945, with a Crofton student participating in the monumental event. Veteran Stories: Promoted on the Battlefield in Italy Henry I. Kremer was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kremer from Crofton. Although he was a Crofton native, Henry joined the National Guard in Madison, Minnesota where he was working at the time after the U.S. declared war on Japan and Germany in 1941. Kremer served in the early days of the U.S. involvement in World War II in the North African invasion. Treasures Donates to Crofton Pool Main Treasures volunteers Vicki Woockman, Bernice Tramp, Marlene Hynes, JoAnn Woockman, and Marietta McFarland present a check for $2100 to Economic Development Director Erin Filips for the swimming pool project.
