The Crofton High School One Act team made a strong impression at the District One Act competition performing Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion, ultimately bringing home the Runner-Up trophy. The team faced an unexpected challenge when they arrived at West Point: the stage at the competition had an unusually low ceiling. The Crofton team quickly realized they needed to make adjustments to their set, which was originally built with a taller frame. In a true display of quick thinking, the crew used the school’s shop tools to cut 14 inches off the base of the set to fit the space on stage. The work was completed in time, and Crofton’s performance proceeded without any further hiccups.

Combines aren’t the only things rolling through the fields these days; the dust is too high this harvest season. There has been very little to pause harvest this season, with rain in such short supply.
In spite of the dry weather this fall, yields have been fairly good.
In Nebraska, the corn harvest is 63 percent complete according to the USDA, way ahead of the five-year average of 51 percent. While most of the soybeans have been harvested in our area, the USDA puts soybean harvest statewide at 85 percent, also far ahead of the five-year average.
